Siera Smith's Experience as a Therapist
Hi there! My name is Siera and I am a licensed professional counselor. I earned my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University in 2021; but my journey as a mental health provider started long before then by working for inpatient psychiatry over the last 8 years. My approach to therapy has 3 core components: building a strong therapeutic relationship, arming my patients with knowledge through psychoeduation, and identifying the root cause for symptoms.
I am trained in working with children, adolescents, and young adults, and I specialize in trauma, panic disorder, anxiety, and anger issues. I also utilize my undergrad degree in Neuroscience by combining science and therapy to drive treatment that is lasting. My ultimate goal is for you to leave treatment feeling healthy, safe, and empowered!
Specialties: Anger Management, Anxiety, Trauma and PTSD

My approach has always been what Carl Rogers called the power of the "therapeutic relationship", which includes: unconditional positive regard, compassion, genuineness, empathy, and congruency. We help to empower the client by encouraging them to find their own solutions, which always lie within them.
