Talk with IsabelleIsabelle Ahlborn's Experience as a Therapist
Hi! My name is Isabelle Ahlborn, and I am a clinical mental health counseling student at Northwestern University’s Family Institute. I want to work with a diverse population of people, families, and groups, helping them overcome challenges, persevere, and improve their mental health through therapy that addresses their psychological and mental well-being. I also aim to help children and adolescents promote their well-being, ensuring their safety and success while supporting families and strengthening diverse communities through goal-setting strategies, evidence-based child treatment plans, and interventions.
I plan to use ACT, CBT, and DBT in my interventions in therapy, as well as utilizing play therapy with children to help strengthen their capabilities in incorporating skills to help with mental health challenges that occur, and be a beacon of support for them.
Specialties: ADD & ADHD, Anger Management, Anxiety, Autism, Bipolar Disorder, Communication Problems, Depression, Family Conflicts, Self-Esteem, Sleep Issues, ACT, CBT, DBT, Family Conflicts, LGBTQ Issues

Kenneth Miyake
My approach has always been what Carl Rogers called the power of the "therapeutic relationship", which includes: unconditional positive regard, compassion, genuineness, empathy, and congruency. We help to empower the client by encouraging them to find their own solutions, which always lie within them.

I believe cultivating ways one can empower oneself can be a catalyst for positive changes. By finding practical ways to remind ourselves of choices we have in our everyday lives can assist in improving ourselves overall. I believe in meeting individuals where they are in their healing journey and provide flexibility due to life's busy schedule.
