Talk with KarenKaren Stocker's Experience as a Therapist
I am a Clinical Intern currently completing my second master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Bradley University. My first master’s degree is in Secondary Education, and I bring more than eight years of experience working with children and adolescents into my counseling work.
Throughout my professional experience, I have supported children and adolescents in a variety of settings, including providing behavior therapy to adolescents. These experiences have shaped my passion for helping clients better understand themselves, build meaningful coping skills, and move toward growth in ways that feel supportive and individualized.
My counseling approach is grounded in the belief that every person is unique, and each client deserves care that honors their individual needs, strengths, and lived experiences. I use a variety of therapeutic methods because no single approach fits everyone. I often draw from person-centered therapy because I believe clients are the experts of their own lives, and I feel privileged to walk alongside them as they navigate their personal journey.
I work with children, individuals, and couples. I especially enjoy supporting clients navigating autism, ADHD, OCD, phobias, anxiety, PTSD, and depression. I am also interested in using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is considered a gold-standard treatment approach for OCD.
In my work, I primarily use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) approaches. My goal is to create a compassionate, collaborative, and respectful space where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to work toward meaningful change.
Specialties: ADD & ADHD, Anxiety, Autism, Depression, Family Conflicts, Parenting Difficulties, Personal Growth, Relationship Issues, Self-Awareness, Trauma and PTSD, ACT, CBT, DBT, Person Centered Approach
