Talk with MaryMary E. O'Connor's Experience as a Therapist
Mary E. O’Connor is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and Advanced Certified Personal and Executive Coach (ACPEC). She earned her Master of Science in Clinical/Counseling Psychology from Illinois State University, with a minor in Women’s Studies, and brings decades of professional experience grounded in empathy, acceptance, authenticity, and strength.
Mary’s goal is to walk alongside clients as they navigate personal, relationship, and career challenges. She offers both professional expertise and lived experience, creating a supportive space where clients feel heard as they work toward meaningful change. She is extensively trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy and uses this approach to support clients navigating trauma and PTSD, as well as grief and loss—including traumatic grief, loss related to narcissistic abuse, and the complex emotional impact of reproductive and infertility experiences.
While she works with many concerns, her focus is supporting clients navigating trauma and PTSD, traumatic grief, and issues often impacting women, including infertility, adoption, and perimenopause. She also treats anxiety, depression, relationship issues, parenting, and career transitions, and enjoys helping clients build their businesses, careers, and overall confidence. Mary believes in client-led therapy: your healing belongs to you, and her role is to walk beside you with care and respect while offering guidance and tools when helpful.
Mary sees individuals, couples, and families, including teens and adults. She is available in person and via telehealth.

Kenneth Miyake
My approach has always been what Carl Rogers called the power of the "therapeutic relationship", which includes: unconditional positive regard, compassion, genuineness, empathy, and congruency. We help to empower the client by encouraging them to find their own solutions, which always lie within them.
